Yoga Practitioners

Annemarie Caracciolo

Annemarie is an Introductory Level 2 teacher of the Iyengar Yoga Association (UK).  She began practicing yoga in 1994 when she first arrived in the UK from New York, and luckily happened upon the Iyengar method in 1997 when she moved to Bristol.

In this branch of yoga, developed by BKS Iyengar, pupils learn through a carefully graded and systematic programme of asana (posture) for safe and steady progression. Pranayama (breath control) is gradually introduced once students have a firm foundation of yoga practice. Yoga both relaxes and energises the body and mind and brings vitality, flexibility, strength, concentration, self-confidence and mental calm. It is suitable for all types of people and all levels of fitness and can help you overcome and prevent many stresses, strains, aches and pains.

Annemarie is particularly interested in the mind and body connection of Iyengar yoga and the foundation it provides for wellbeing: ‘Yoga asks you to draw on physical strength, as well as discipline, tolerance and persistence, to see that it isn’t just about the exercise, but about who you are at that moment. It has challenged my patience and tenacity as well as calmed and comforted.’

She enjoys teaching all levels and feels you are never too young, too old or too stiff to start.

Annemarie teaches at lunch times: MONDAY from 12-1pm and TUESDAY from 1-2pm.  All welcome.

Lucy Aston

Our Friday lunchtime Yoga classes are taught by Lucy Aston RYT RCYT - UK Yoga alliance accredited Meditation, Ashtanga and Vinyassa Flow Yoga teacher and founder of YOGADOO, which brings a refreshing new way to practice Yoga for all.

Lucy has practiced Yoga on and off for 20 years, but never really enjoyed going to Yoga classes in Yoga studios, preferring instead to practice Yoga at home alone. It was after Lucy's eight year old son Freddie asked her to teach Yoga at this school, that she decided to train as a children's Yoga and Mindfulness teacher and she started to teach Yoga in schools in the Bath area.

As time went on Parents of the children asked Lucy to set up a Yoga class which followed the same principle of the children's classes - a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, good music and Yoga taught in an approachable and accessible way. So after travelling to India to gain her Ashtanga, Vinyassa Flow and Meditation qualifications, Lucy set up YOGADOO - which teaches Yoga in a non-spirtiual (No Om's or chanting) to everyone from children aged 18 months through to older people in their eighties and nineties. Her adult classes in Bath sell out each week.

So, after a successful launch in Bath, Lucy has now brought YOGADOO to Bristol with two weekly lunchtime classes (for beginners to intermediates) on a Friday - the perfect way to unwind  from the week and get ready for the weekend). Taught in a Vinyasa Flow style, you'll come away from a YOGADOO class feeling refreshed and inspired to continuing your Yoga practice away from the studio.

Kate Fox

I am an experienced Yoga instructor with a passion and commitment to share the contribution Yoga can make to maintain a healthy body and mind.

I began to practise Yoga regularly in my early twenties and it soon became clear to me that Yoga not only improves my physical well-being, but is a useful tool in enabling me to find more clarity and focus at difficult times, and generally have a more relaxed and positive state of mind. At busy, stressful times, I found myself constantly turning to yoga and would walk out of class feeling revitalised, relaxed and much happier!

After practising Yoga for 10 years I realised I wanted to share the benefits with others and I completed my teacher training in July 2011. I have been inspired by different yoga schools, but my more recent practice and teaching has evolved from the late Vanda Scaravelli. My lunchtime classes are for those wishing to fit yoga into their busy day. Great for helping alleviate stress and anxiety, rejuvenate your body and focus your mind for the afternoon tasks.

I welcome everyone to join me, whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced practitioner. I offer a friendly, warm, down-to-earth environment, where I encourage my students to work in an open, sensitive and inquisitive way. I will help find different ways of approaching the asanas to suit the individual and offer gentle hands on encouragement when required.
